Kitui County Executive for Agriculture and Livestock, Dr. Stephen Mbaya Kimwele, today led the distribution of computers, printers and Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) units to 20 organized ward based farmersโ SACCOs across the county.
Speaking during the distribution exercise in Mutomo (Kitui South) and Ithumbi (Mwingi Central), Dr. Kimwele said the initiative is aimed at strengthening the operational capacity of farmer SACCOs through digital transformation, noting that automation has become an essential tool in streamlining SACCO operations by reducing paperwork, minimizing errors and enabling efficient management of financial transactions and records.
The adoption of digital systems will allow SACCO bookkeepers to manage workflows more effectively, improve accounting processes and ensure compliance with financial standards and regulations.Through the digital platforms, members will be able to make savings and share contributions conveniently from their homes using mobile money services such as M-Pesa, after which SACCO bookkeepers will process statements and receipts electronically.
Governor Dr. Julius Malombe’s Administration continues to support farmer organizations and SACCOs as key drivers of agricultural development, credit access, financial inclusion and economic empowerment improve efficiency, strengthen governance and enhance access to financial services for farmers across Kitui County.
