Principal Secretary for Livestock Development Jonathan Mueke on Saturday joined residents and leaders in Mwingi West Constituency during the Jamii Imara Mashinani Citizen Engagement Forum, a platform aimed at strengthening dialogue between government and wananchi while addressing key development priorities.

Speaking during the forum, Mueke emphasized the importance of the Jamii Imara Mashinani initiative in ensuring citizens actively participate in shaping development agendas. He noted that the engagement platform creates an opportunity for government leaders to directly listen to wananchi, understand their needs and ensure that no community is left behind in national development efforts.

The forum brought together senior government officials, local leaders and residents from different parts of Mwingi West to discuss ongoing and planned projects intended to improve livelihoods across Kitui County. Discussions focused on key sectors such as infrastructure, water, healthcare, housing and education.

Among the major projects highlighted was the KSh4.3 billion Kwasiku–Bondoni Road project, which is expected to significantly improve connectivity and open up economic opportunities within the region. Leaders said improved road infrastructure would enhance movement of people and goods while boosting local businesses and trade activities.

Residents were also updated on other development initiatives including affordable housing projects, the Thokoa Water Pan and continued investments in critical sectors such as healthcare services, education, water access, electricity connectivity and expansion of road networks across the county.

Mueke was joined by Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni Muriuki CBS, Mwingi West MP Hon. Charles Ngusya Nguna, Members of County Assembly and other government officials who reiterated the administration’s commitment to delivering people-centered development projects and ensuring public participation remains at the center of decision-making.

The leaders reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to responsive service delivery and inclusive development, saying continued citizen engagement forums remain key in building stronger partnerships with communities and ensuring that development programs effectively address the needs and aspirations of wananchi.
