Yatta Kwa Vonza MCA Hon. Mark Nding’o has defended former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s continued involvement in national discourse, saying his statesmanship and leadership experience should not be used as grounds to silence him.
Speaking during a political discussion, the MCA termed threats to withdraw Uhuru’s retirement benefits and pension as intimidation tactics aimed at suppressing democratic expression. According to Hon. Nding’o, retired leaders still have a constitutional and moral responsibility to contribute to the country’s governance and political direction.

“Uhuru’s statesmanship should not stop him from speaking on national issues. Even threats of withdrawing his perks and pension to intimidate or silence him will not stop him from speaking out,” said Hon. Mark Nding’o.
The outspoken MCA, who also describes himself as a governance expert, maintained that Kenya’s democracy thrives when leaders are free to express their opinions without fear of political retaliation. His remarks come amid growing national debate over former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s recent political statements and influence ahead of the 2027 General Election.
