WHY GOVERNOR MALOMBE HAS RAISED THE BAR TOO HIGH FOR MEDIOCRITY IN KITUI

As the 2027 succession politics begin to take shape, one thing is becoming increasingly clear across Kitui County — the county cannot afford mediocre leadership after governor Malombe.

In just four years, Governor Malombe’s administration has implemented close to 3,000 development projects across all the 40 wards and 247 villages, setting a development record that few county governments can match. From roads, health, water and agriculture to education, trade, tourism and urban development, the transformation has been deliberate, visible and people-centred.

Under his leadership, over 7,000 kilometres of roads have been graded and opened up, improving movement, trade and access to essential services across rural Kitui. Through the Kitui County Aggregation and Industrial Park (K-CAIP), the county is positioning itself as a future industrial and investment hub. The Kitui Tourism Circuit has opened a new chapter in tourism and local investment, while urban development projects are steadily modernizing towns and markets across the county.

In education, the administration employed ECDE teachers on permanent and pensionable terms and strengthened Vocational Training Centres to equip young people with practical skills and economic opportunities. These are not political slogans — they are real investments touching lives at the grassroots.

What makes Malombe different is his development philosophy. He understood that leadership is not about noise, propaganda or endless political drama. It is about results. While others focused on early campaigns and empty rhetoric, Malombe focused on service delivery and implementation.

Today, the people of Kitui can physically see the impact of his administration in villages, towns and wards across the county. That is why the political conversation is changing. Residents are no longer looking for excitement; they are looking for continuity, competence and visionary leadership capable of sustaining the momentum already created.

The truth is simple: *Governor Malombe has raised the bar too high for Kitui to gamble on inexperienced or mediocre leadership.*

The next governor will not be compared to promises. He or she will be compared to performance — and that performance benchmark has already been firmly established by Malombe.
