Principal Secretary for Livestock Development, Jonathan Mueke, is leading a high-level Kenyan delegation to Brazil on a strategic Livestock Trade Mission aimed at transforming Kenya’s livestock sector through international partnerships and investment opportunities.
According to the PS, the delegation is engaging with leading global industry players and research institutions to explore modern innovations in livestock production, including animal genetics, breeding technologies, animal health systems, pasture management, and value addition.
The mission also seeks to benchmark best practices from Brazil’s globally competitive livestock industry while identifying opportunities that can help modernize Kenya’s livestock value chains and improve productivity for farmers.

Speaking during the visit, Hon. Mueke said the initiative demonstrates Kenya’s commitment to building a more commercial and productive livestock sector capable of competing in regional and global markets.
He noted that strengthening partnerships with world-class agribusinesses and research organizations will help unlock new opportunities for Kenyan farmers, enhance food security, and increase livestock exports.
The trade mission is expected to pave the way for future collaborations in technology transfer, investment, capacity building, and sustainable livestock development as Kenya intensifies efforts to grow the agricultural sector and improve livelihoods in pastoral and farming communities.
